Richardo Keens-Douglas

Richardo Keens-Douglas' career leaps many disciplines, and includes acting, directing, keynote speaker, play writing, and storytelling.
 
As a storyteller, Keens-Douglas has thrilled audiences across Canada, the USA, the Caribbean, and at international storytelling festivals, and he made Caribbean history by being the Host of the Caribbean version of the hit show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.
 
In 2012, he was appointed Cultural Ambassador for Grenada by the Government of Grenada.
 
In 2007, he was honoured by the Queen with an MBE for Arts and Culture.
 
His new play UNCLE, the story of Sir Eric Matthew Gairy, premiered in February 2014.

In 2013/2014 he produced / directed / wrote a children’s television series MANGO and Friends.  He was the resident choreographer for the Childrens’ Theatre of Montreal in Canada for five years. His Book Freedom Child of the Sea was chosen the official book for children for the (200 years of the Abolition of slavery - 1807) Bicentennial Year in Canada 2007.  He is the only Children’s author in the Caribbean region that has 11 Children’s books in five languages.

 

He wrote and directed the hit sold out show AY YA YAI IVAN, a musical about Hurricane Ivan which successfully toured the USA, England and Canada.  He has produced and directed major shows such as the International Maroon Festival 2004/2010/2011, National Carnival Queen Pageants for Grenada 2003/2004, the extravaganza production Reflections for the 25th Independence Celebrations of Grenada, and the four day extravaganza Tourism Expo 2002 and 2004.

 

He has also written and directed Full Moon (2001), Mas’ Camp (2002), Sapodilla (2008), Kidnap Love (2009),

Tropical (2010), I Can Do It Mama (2012), and Sparky (2012).

 

 He has had leading roles in such films as Zero Patience, Dance to Remember, Fields of Endless Days, Fred Penner series, Cocoa roots, The Aderley series. He has appeared in numerous radio dramas, including the solo reading of fifteen episodes of Cecil Foster’s “No Man in the House” for CBC Radio Canada.

 

As a Host/MC and Motivational Speaker, Richardo Keens-Douglas is in demand across North America and the Caribbean.
