La Petite Musicale

La Petite Musicale of Toronto has been bringing the sweet sounds of Trinidad and Tobago to Canadian audiences for over forty years. This non-profit organization was established in 1969 by former members of the parent group in Trinidad and Tobago which was founded by the late Olive Walke.

 

Under the leadership of Lindy Burgess since 1975, the group has given command performances in Ontario and toured the United States of America, performing a repertoire of parang, calypso (songs of wit and political commentary), folk, gospel and classics. The group is dedicated to promoting the music and culture of Trinidad and Tobago.

 

Its membership represents the broad spectrum of the performing arts, including classical vocalists, calypsonians and actors, all bound together by their commitment to the arts in all its forms. Members have shared their talents with audiences in North America, the Caribbean and Asia personifying the spirit and richness of the diverse cultures of our wonderful country Trinidad and Tobago and also the Caribbean
